Why Chelsea and United could never offer Pochettino what he has now

The Tottenham boss has been linked with Chelsea and Man United...

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is a target for Chelsea and Manchester United.

But what were once two of the most-craved jobs in Premier League football are no longer.

Indeed, neither the Blues nor United could ever actually offer the Argentine what he has at White Hart Lane right now.

Yes, there could be more money. Both for Pochettino's own bank account and in the transfer market. But would Chelsea or Manchester United give the Spurs boss what he currently possesses in terms of transfer policy?

At Tottenham, Pochettino is allowed to hunt for the players he wants. His policy of younger, more athletic players hasn't failed him so far, while the north London side don't possess any big-name superstars. That helps the team function as a unit and has brought brilliant results on the pitch.

Who did Chelsea buy this season? John Stones was identified and large sums were suggested. A move didn't go through. All the while, Spurs were busy signing Toby Alderweireld.

At White Hart Lane, Pochettino has Paul Mitchell with him and is given the freedom to sign good players - not just those who can sell shirts and would require a massive salary, let alone transfer fee.

What can Manchester United offer in that regard? Under Louis van Gaal, millions and millions of pounds have been thrown at players. But what have they got to show for it?

No, Chelsea and United would both be bad moves for Pochettino at this moment in time. And it looks as though the Tottenham boss is fully aware of that.
