Tottenham Hotspur beat Colchester United 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur eased into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win away at League One's bottom club Colchester United.

Spurs, who beat Leicester City in a replay back in round three, took the lead in the first half as Nacer Chadli placed a superb shot from outside the box into the corner.

Mauricio Pochettino's men then took control in the second half, as Eric Dier's deflected strike made it 2-0, and Chadli added his second and Tottenham's third by heading home from a right wing cross.

Colchester pulled one back when Ben Davies inadvertently put through his own net, but Tom Carroll put gloss on the win with a close-range finish in the dying stages.

After the final whistle, Tottenham players took to Twitter to give their reactions to the win, including defender Kevin Wimmer, who is now set to start in the Premier League after Jan Vertonghen's injury.

Ben Davies joked about his own goal being his first strike for Spurs, whilst winger Erik Lamela remarked a job well done by his team-mates.

Two-goal hero Nacer Chadli is already looking ahead to the next game against Norwich City in midweek, whilst striker Harry Kane is looking forward to tonight's fifth round draw.
