According to the Daily Mirror, Aston Villa are close to completing a loan deal for Mathieu Debuchy from Arsenal.
Villa have been trying to agree a temporary transfer for the French full-back after learning of his potential availability.
So far the transfer has been a complicated one with Arsenal keen to put a recall clause in the loan deal.
However, it is believed that the two clubs have finally reached an agreeable deal, with Villa willing to pay £1 million for the former Newcastle United man. The Villans will also pay Debuchy’s full wages for the duration of his loan spell.
Villa are desperate to make additions to strengthen their squad, but they have not even made one signing in the January transfer window so far.
Debuchy’s arrival would strengthen Remi Garde’s defensive options as they look to make a miraculous escape.
Villa are currently 10 points away from safety in England’s top flight, and it has made their task of signing players on a permanent basis very challenging this month.
