West Brom step in for Alex Pritchard

Tottenham Alex Pritchard

HITC Sport understands that Baggies have made a late move for young Tottenham midfielder.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alex Pritchard could make a late move to West Bromwich Albion after they made a last ditch bid to land him, HITC Sport understands.

The England Under-21 international had been set for a move to the Championship, after Burnley, Middlesbrough and Brighton & Hove Albion all agreed terms.

Initially Spurs had wanted Pritchard, who spent last season with Brentford, to join a Premier League side but they were not convinced after talks with Norwich and Swansea.

Spurs have now got their wish of a top-flight club as Tony Pulis has made a late, and a successful, bid to land the 22-year-old on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Pritchard has missed most of this season with an ankle injury and Mauricio Pochettino had considered keeping him around the first-team for the rest of the campaign, but he and the player have decided regular football was best.

Tottenham and West Brom have been unable previously to strike an agreement surrounding striker Saido Berahino, a target for the North London club.
