Atletico Madrid defender Guilherme Siqueira hasn't shown up for his medical at Newcastle medical.
According to Sky Sports, Newcastle have called off their pursuit of Atletico Madrid left back Guilherme Siqueira, after the player failed to show up for a medical.
The Magpies have splashed the cash during this month's transfer window, bringing in midfielders Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey from Bordeaux and Swansea City respectively, before snapping up Tottenham winger Andros Townsend earlier this week.
It doesn't seem that manager Steve McClaren is done just yet though, as Sky Sports suggest that he was looking to bring in a new left back - but the deal has fallen apart.
They state that Newcastle had agreed a loan deal with Atletico Madrid for their Brazilian left back Guilherme Siquiera, but he won't be signing after he failed to show up for a medical on Tyneside yesterday.
The 29-year-old, who joined Atletico from Granada in 2014 after an impressive loan spell with Benfica, has struggled for first-team football since the return of Filipe Luis, and now looks set to leave the Estadio Vicente Calderon for La Liga rivals Valencia.
His move to join Gary Neville's men comes after seemingly snubbing a move to Newcastle, but manager McClaren may yet want to sign a left back before tomorrow's transfer deadline, due to continued injury problems for Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara and Jack Colback.
Should Newcastle sign a left back before the deadline?
