Former Newcastle United midfielder Rob Lee said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 2 on Saturday morning (January 30) that he would pick Dimitri Payet over Christian Eriksen.
“Payet all day long,” said the former West Ham United man when asked who he would pick: Payet or Eriksen. “He has been a breath of fresh air. At West Ham he has been outstanding. He has been their outstanding player.
“I have watched him a few times. He should be playing higher, with all due respect to West Ham. He could play for any team in Europe, I think - he is that good. Man United could do with him right now.”
Payet joined West Ham from French club Marseille in the summer of 2015 and has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.
The France international attacking midfielder has scored six goals and created 55 chances in 16 league appearances this campaign.
