Dimitri Payet plays for West Ham United, while Christian Eriksen is currently on the books of Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Rob Lee said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 2 on Saturday morning (January 30) that he would pick Dimitri Payet over Christian Eriksen.

“Payet all day long,” said the former West Ham United man when asked who he would pick: Payet or Eriksen. “He has been a breath of fresh air. At West Ham he has been outstanding. He has been their outstanding player.

“I have watched him a few times. He should be playing higher, with all due respect to West Ham. He could play for any team in Europe, I think - he is that good. Man United could do with him right now.”

Payet joined West Ham from French club Marseille in the summer of 2015 and has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.

The France international attacking midfielder has scored six goals and created 55 chances in 16 league appearances this campaign.

The 28-year-old has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and has won one header, 39 dribbles and 11 tackles.

Meanwhile, Eriksen has been on the books of Tottenham Hotspur since 2013 and is one of the best players at the North London outfit.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has scored four goals and created 65 chances in 20 Premier League games so far this season.

The Denmark international has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 58%, and has won eight headers, 21 dribbles and 22 tackles.
