Alan Judge and Premier League goalkeeper react to Jordan Rhodes speculation

Jordan Rhodes of Blackburn Rovers

Sheffield Wednesday-linked Alan Judge and Leicester City's Mark Schwarzer back the Blackburn Rovers striker to succeed at Middlesbrough.

Brentford midfielder Alan Judge has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to speculation that Jordan Rhodes is on his way to Middlesbrough.

According to BBC Sport, Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough have agreed a fee regarding the transfer of Rhodes.

It has been reported that Boro would have to pay Rovers a fee of £9 million to secure the services of the 25-year-old.

Blackburn announced on their official website on Friday that they have “reluctantly given Middlesbrough permission to speak to” the striker.

Judge has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the news, claiming that his former Rovers teammate Rhodes’s move to the Riverside Stadium would see Aitor Karanka’s side clinch promotion to the Premier League.

Interestingly, Judge himself has been the subject of speculation in the January transfer window.

According to The Daily Mail, Championship rivals Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in securing the services of the 27-year-old former Blackburn man.

The Irishman, though, seems set to remain at Brentford and told HITC Sport on Saturday: "It has been flattering to be linked with other clubs, but I will be staying at Brentford this month.”

Leicester City goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has also backed Rhodes to be a success at his former club Middlesbrough and said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 2 on Saturday morning (January 30): “I think with an addition like Jordan Rhodes, I think it’s going to give them a massive boost because of the goals he can score in the Championship."

“I like him,” added Schwarzer. “You look at him, and he looks strong, he looks fit, he is big and I think he can improve.”

Rhodes is one of the best strikers in the Championship, and has scored nine goals and created 14 chances in 24 league games so far this season.
