The England winger has already shown fight in a relegation battle in the past.
Newcastle United have picked up perhaps one of the better signings of the transfer window so far. Andros Townsend joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week after fallen foul of Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.
The England winger is a talented operator, of course that is no doubt, but is he set for a relegation battle?
Luckily for Newcastle United they should already know that he is. Townsend may be better known for battling in the higher regions of the Premier League but it was during a relegation battle that he really came to the fore.
In January 2013 Harry Redknapp brought Townsend to QPR. He put in some excellent performances for the club but unfortunately it was too late for the club who finished bottom of the Premier League.
He was however a shining light in their final six months of the season and deservedly earned his place in the Tottenham first-team off the back of it.
Newcastle are in a far more favourable position than QPR and if Townsend can perform similarly three years down the line then he will hopefully thrive for Newcastle in their own battle for survival.
