The Anderlecht forward has been dubbed 'Waddle' in the past.

Reports in Belgium today are suggesting that Southampton and Swansea City are interested in snapping up Anderlecht striker Idrissa Sylla.

Voetbal Nieuws is reporting that the Guinean international striker is a target for both Premier League clubs in the coming days.

The report claims that the Belgian side have already rejected a €3 million (£2.3 million) from Serie A side Atalanta and would be hoping for more from any Premier League team.

Interestingly the apparent Southampton and Swansea target has a nickname familiar to English football fans. He has been dubbed 'Waddle' during his time in France, because of his playing style likeness to the former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur playmaker.

A year ago Het Laatste Nieuws reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers were set to make a move for the player, who was then with Zulte Waregem.

However he joined Anderlecht instead and after initial struggles in Brussels he has had an excellent season this term - scoring six goals in 22 appearances - the majority of which came as a substitute.

Sylla is certainly a mercurial talent who has the potential to be a star. Southampton and Swansea would be doing no harm rolling the dice.
