Report: Everton agree to loan Aiden McGeady to Sheffield Wednesday

Sevilla have also been linked with a move for the Irish winger.

Plenty of Championship clubs have been linked with a loan move for Aiden McGeady in recent weeks. The Irish international is not in Roberto Martinez's plans at Goodison Park and is available on a loan deal if a team can tempt him out.

The Liverpool Echo stated that Sheffield Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers were all keen on getting the player.

Yesterday it seemed he would be heading to La Liga instead with La Liga side and reigning Europa League champions Sevilla keen on bringing the Republic of Ireland international to Spain.

The report from The Guardian stated that Sevilla coach Unai Emery, who briefly managed McGeady at Spartak Moscow in Russia, was keen on bringing in McGeady as extra cover for the rest of the season.

However, it looks like he is off to Sheffield Wednesday after all.

Sky Sports are reporting that Everton have agreed to loan McGeady to Wednesday for the rest of the season.

It had previously been reported that the Yorkshire club would not get their hands on the player, who was not keen on a move to the Championship.

However it looks like the Everton man might have had a change of heart.

McGeady has fallen foul of Roberto Martinez's team selection recently and has played just one game for the club this season - in a 5-3 win against Barnsley in the Capital One Cup back in August.

However he has played three times for Ireland this season and his hope will be that a switch from Everton to Sheffield Wednesday will ensure him of a Euro 2016 spot.
