City will take on Villa away from home at Villa Park in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Owen has backed the Citizens to clinch the tie and has written on Betvictor.com: “City look sure to rest a number of key players ahead of their trip to the Stadium of Light midweek but they have the strength in depth to cope and should make it through in 90 minutes; neither manager will want a replay.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: City to win at 3/4.”
Former Villa striker Andy Gray has also predicted Manuel Pellegrini’s side to win and has written on Paddypower.com: “Villa are unbeaten in five but Man City had a good win midweek. Man City, but just.”
Villa will head into the tie on the back of an encouraging goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion away from home at the Hawthorns in the Premier League.
Remi Garde’s side have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, and the players will be determined to put on a good show against City.
An early goal for Villa could make things interesting, but given the quality of players that Pellegrini has, anything other than a City win will be a surprise.
Villa have scored in each of their last 12 home games in the FA Cup, scoring two or more on 10 occasions, while City have won only two of their last nine competitive away matches.
