And Pochettino didn't deny them. However, when speaking ahead of his side's FA Cup clash against Colchester United, one the north London side won convincingly, the Argentine was coy.
In fact, he chose to instead discuss Mousa Dembele's new contract with Tottenham...
Pochettino is quoted as telling BT Sport by the Express: "There are always rumours, we will see what happens.
"I am delighted that [the other] Dembele has signed a new contract."
Dembele (the Fulham one) is probably Spurs' best bet right now when it comes to any potential new strikers.
Few other names have been thrown about at this late stage in the transfer window and, should Tottenham sign the 19-year-old, there would be little need to sign anyone else.
However, with a day or two to go, there could still be the odd surprise...
