West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has told The Sun that she thinks Dimitri Payet's skills are comparable to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
Payet, 28, joined West Ham from French club Marseille, and was seen as the club's marquee summer signing after racking up 16 assists last season.
The French international playmaker has been one of the Premier League's top players this term, as even having missed two months of the season, he still has six goals and four assists to his name this season.
Payet was at his flamboyant best as West Ham drew 2-2 with Manchester City last weekend, as his exuberant skills bamboozled the City defence on a number of occasions.
He has received plaudits throughout the season, and now West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has lauded Payet too.
Brady has told The Sun that she thinks Payet's skills are comparable to Barcelona hero Lionel Messi, who can produce magic with the ball at his feet.
"Dimitri Payet is fast making his way into the Hammers hall of fame," said Brady. "He ranks with Lionel Messi with his skills. Wow," she added.
It's a huge comparison given that Messi is the best player in the world, but Payet is without question one of the top players in the Premier League, and he can conjure something out of nothing to win points for West Ham - just as Messi has done so many times for Barcelona.
Do you think Payet's skills are comparable to Messi?
