Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has claimed on social networking site Twitter that Valencia are interested in signing Guilherme Siqueira from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.
Sky Sports reported on Friday that Newcastle United are close to the signing of the full-back from Spanish club Atletico.
Balague has now claimed that Valencia, who are currently managed by former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, and Turkish clubs want to recruit the 29-year-old left-back.
Valencia and Turkish teams have approached Siqueira as he was close to agree a loan deal with Newcastle. He will now take time to decide— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) January 30, 2016
Siqueira joined Atletico from fellow Spanish side Granada in the summer of 2014. The Brazilian left-back played quite regularly last season, scoring one goal and creating 13 chances in 25 La Liga games.
However, so far this campaign, the former Udinese defender has managed to make just one appearance in La Liga for Atletico.
It will be interesting to see which club Siqueira joins. Valencia does appear the most suitable option, as the left-back will get to remain in Spain and not switch leagues in the middle of the season.
