Wolverhampton Wanderers confirmed on their official website that they have signed Cardiff City striker Joe Mason, with the Birmingham Mail reporting that the fee is around £3m.
Wolves have seen star striker Benik Afobe leave Molineux for the Premier League with Bournemouth, and manager Kenny Jackett has been charged with the task of replacing Afobe's goalscoring prowess.
Polish winger Michal Zyro has arrived from Legia Warsaw and has made a bright start to life in the Championship, but a natural striker has been needed - and now Wolves have landed one.
Wolves have snapped up striker Joe Mason on a three-and-a-half year contract, with the 24-year-old leaving Cardiff City for their Championship rivals.
After 25 goals in 112 appearances for Cardiff, Mason has now moved on to Molineux, where he will have the unenviable task of replacing Afobe.
Following the announcement of the transfer, Wolves fans took to Twitter to give their reaction to the deal, with some supporters keen to see him in action, believing he could be the club's next Kevin Doyle.
However, others weren't quite so convinced, and believe Mason isn't the right man to replace Afobe in the Wolves attack, and still want to see another striker brought in before Monday's transfer deadline.
Here are some of the tweets from Wolves fans after the signing of Joe Mason on Thursday...
Not impressed with the Mason signing. There is definitely better out there. Hope I'm proven wrong. #WWFC— Bidders (@Bidders84) January 28, 2016
Good to see some movement with Joe Mason coming in, wouldn't mind another striker though #wwfc— DG17⚽ (@danisawolf) January 28, 2016
Mason is a good signing, proper footballer. Need a good number 9 to link with him and he could be an excellent player for #wwfc— Marc Nock (@nocky1982) January 28, 2016
Still, it's good to see us finally sign Joe Mason, after failing to agree a fee in the summer. Hopefully, he does a job. #WWFC— ROBBIE (@RBBMKN) January 28, 2016
Wolves I hope you prove me wrong when I say Joe Mason is really not the answer to losing Benik Afobe— Marc Braim (@MarcBraim) January 28, 2016
Joe Mason sounds like a younger Kevin Doyle. Still need another striker this window— Tom Avery (@tomavery92) January 28, 2016
