Mike Williamson has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a permanent contract from Newcastle United.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to have their say on the transfer of Mike Williamson.

Williamson has joined Championship side Wolves from Premier League outfit Newcastle on a permanent contract.

The 32-year-old defender has signed an 18-month deal at Molineux and will hope to play an important role in Wolves’ attempt to finish in the playoffs this season.

The former Southampton prospect joined Kenny Jackett’s side on loan from Newcastle in October for a month.

It was then extended until January, but Newcastle recalled Williamson to St. James’ Park due to injuries to Steve McClaren’s side.

Williamson switched to the Magpies from Portsmouth in January 2010 and made 171 appearances during his six years on Tyneside, scoring two goals in the process.

Wolves and Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on the permanent transfer of Williamson.
