Mousa Dembele has today signed a long-term contract extension with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian midfielder has signed a new deal which expires in 2019, establishing himself as one of the most important players in Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs set-up.
Dembele, 28, started the season with doubts about his future as a Tottenham player, having endured a run of poor form last season.
However, after a few poor games and an injury, Dembele has fought back and established himself as a key player for the North London club.
His first top class game was in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool back in October, and since then he has been playing at the top of his game. He is finally showing the potential which he displayed at Fulham, and is proving that he is one of the most talented players in the Premier League.
Dembele has a very specific skill set which makes him the perfect attacking player for a high-pressing system, and one of the most individually gifted players in the division.
His contract ties him down until his early 30s, and fans reacted on Twitter in jubilation at the news that Dembele will be a Tottenham player for the foreseeable future.
