Report: Sevilla keen on Federico Fazio loan deal, Spurs want permanent sale

Tottenham are facing trouble in offloading Federico Fazio this month.

Spurs are struggling to offload Federico Fazio this month, the Standard reports.

Sevilla are keen to bring their former defender back to La Liga this month, but only want Fazio on a loan deal, with the option to buy him at the end of the season.

However, Spurs are only ready to sanction Fazio’s departure on a permanent basis, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to streamline his squad to only include players who are definitely going to play for the Lilywhites.

Both teams want to do a deal for the centre-back, but their differing terms for a transfer are stalling an agreement with just four days to go before the close of the January window.

Fazio was signed by Pochettino in the summer of 2014, but has been a failure in English football. He has managed just 32 appearances for Spurs in his year-and-a-half at White Hart Lane, with only one of those games coming this term.

The 28-year-old played the full 90 minutes in the League Cup defeat to Arsenal, but has not been named in a matchday squad since early November.
