HITC Sport understands Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is set to raid his old club Burton for striker
Hasselbaink is keen to add to his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and has lined up a move for El Khayati.
QPR are in need of striking reinforcements following the departure of Charlie Austin to Southampton earlier this month and Hasselbaink is a big admirer of El Khayati.
Hasselbaink signed El Khayati for Burton last January on a free transfer from NAC Breda and the Egyptian scored three goals in the second half of last season as Burton won promotion to League One.
The 26-year-old has scored eight goals so far this season and Hasselbaink feels he could prove a valuable addition to his plans at Loftus Road.
Burton are reluctant to El Khayati, but they are unlikely to be able to resist a big-money offer from QPR before the transfer window shuts next Monday.
QPR are languishing in 13th spot in the Championship, while Hasselbaink is keen to improve a record of just one win in his first 11 games in charge of the club.
