Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic retires and Liverpool fans instantly troll him

This is a bit cheeky from Liverpool fans but he did always have a 'mare against them

There have been a load of great centre-backs that have graced the Premier League since the 2000s – from John Terry to Vincent Kompany, but we reckon that former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is right up there.

The Serbian really did wear his heart on his sleeve and wasn't too bothered about getting hurt if it meant his team wouldn't concede a goal.

While he may have been a towering defender against most sides, he actually had a few nightmares against one side in particular.

Can you guess who...?

Nope! It was Liverpool! Vidic managed to get himself sent off in three consecutive games against Liverpool, in September 2008, March 2009 and October 2009! And on all three occasions, Man United went on to lose to their Premier League rivals.

And let's not forget his sending off in his last Manchester-Liverpool derby back in 2014! Once again the Red Devils lost with Vidic going for an early bath.

So when Vidic announced that he has decided to retire earlier today, Liverpool fans took to Twitter in droves to poke fun at the former United captain and his battle with an ex-Reds player.

As you can imagine, Man United fans hit back with some pretty great tweets as well:
