David Hay names his Celtic Player of the Season

Leigh Griffiths has been superb for Celtic so far this season.

David Hay has written in The Glasgow Evening Times that Leigh Griffiths has been Celtic’s best player so far this season.

“The voting for the player of the year takes place before the season has finished but right now I would struggle to look anywhere other than Leigh Griffiths,” the former Celtic manager wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times.

“The player has come in from the cold to be Celtic’s most consistent performer this season and the biggest compliment you can give him is to say that Celtic look like a better team when he is in there.”

Griffiths has been banging in the goals left, right and centre in recent weeks, and has been the best player for Celtic so far this season.

The Scotland international had to earn his way into Ronny Deila’s side, and he should be lauded for his perseverance.

The 25-year-old striker made the most of the chances he was given, and now he is one of the first names on Celtic’s teamsheet.

Griffiths has scored 54 goals in 61 starts for the Scottish giants so far in his career, hitting the 50-goal mark last week.

If the Scotsman continues to play the way he is at the moment, then he should be able to get 100 goals for the Bhoys before long.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 55 points from 23 matches, six points clear of second-placed Aberdeen.
