Brad Friedel suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (January 29) that his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Emmanuel Adebayor will be a success at Crystal Palace.
“Emmanuel gets a bad reputation from a lot of people around, but I think if you speak to most people who played with him would say that he is a very nice guy, which he is,” said Friedel. “He has been out of football for a short while, and I am sure he is going to be eager to get back on the field.”
“Crystal Palace, one of their problems has been scoring goals,” added the former USA international goalkeeper. “If he is fit and goes in there with the right attitude, then he can help Crystal Palace immensely.
"Contrary to what some people might think, the boys in the changing room will like him. He is a good guy to have around.”
Adebayor, who has played for Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham among other clubs, has joined Palace on a free transfer.
The Togolese knows the Premier League inside out, and one suspects that he will be determined to prove his doubters wrong.
Adebayor had been without a club since September 2015 when he was released by Tottenham, but he has been keeping himself fit over the past months.
Palace are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 31 points from 23 matches. Alan Pardew’s side are aiming to finish in a European place, and hopefully for the London outfit, Adebayor will score the goals that will allow them to achieve that target.
