Sam Allardyce suggests no interest in Leeds United defender Sol Bamba

Sam Allardyce Press Conference 12/02/2014

The Ivorian club captain has been linked with Sunderland this week.

It has been reported this week that Leeds United captain Sol Bamba is a potential target for Premier League clubs Sunderland and Newcastle United, as reported by the Daily Star.

It seemed an odd report but interest is believed to exist in the Ivorian, who has struggled for his best form in recent months at Elland Road.

However, it would appear that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is not keen on the player despite the recent reports.

He spoke to his press conference earlier today and made it clear that he was happy with his current centre-back options, as reported by the Sunderland Echo.

He recently completed the long-protracted signing of Lamine Kone from Lorient and also signed Jan Kirchoff earlier in the month and is now happy with his defensive options.

That means that any apparent bid for Bamba appears to be off the cards.

That would correspond with Steve Evans' comments on Bamba this morning. He told his press conference, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, that no bids had been filed for their club captain - who he expects to stay at Elland Road.
