The Foxes have strengthened their squad this month with two up-and-coming young stars, with utility man Daniel Amartey and winger Demarai Gray arriving from Copenhagen and Birmingham City respectively.
However, manager Claudio Ranieri is believed to be in the market for another striker before Monday's transfer deadline, even though Jamie Vardy has been in sensational form this season.
Having allowed Croatian Andrej Kramaric to leave the club for German club Hoffenheim on loan, there is a spot in the Leicester squad for another striker - and Ranieri may have a shock target in mind.
The Sun report that Southampton striker Graziano Pelle is now wanted by Leicester, with a possible £5m move in the pipeline ahead of the deadline.
Pelle, 30, hit 16 goals in 44 games last season having joined the Saints from Feyenoord in the summer of 2014, and has added another nine goals in 23 appearances this time around.
However, Southampton signing Charlie Austin has cast doubt on Pelle's long-term future on the South Coast, and Ronald Koeman's men may look to cash in on the striker before the end of the season.
The Italian international target man will no doubt be familiar to Leicester's Italian boss Ranieri, and he possesses great size, strength and aerial ability - making a potentially perfect partner for the pacey Vardy in attack, if Southampton are indeed willing to strike a deal.
