Despite their struggles at the bottom of the Premier League table, Villa are yet to make even one new signing during this month's transfer window, and with just days until the deadline, manager Remi Garde is running out of time to bring in new faces.
Now, The Times report that Villa are pursuing a move for Walsall left back Rico Henry, who has been earning rave reviews in League One.
Henry, 18, was born in Birmingham and has come up through the ranks with Walsall, becoming a key player with the Saddlers this season.
His former boss Dean Smith recently told BBC Sport that he thinks Henry is similar to Ashley Cole, and Premier League teams have started to take notice of his performances at the Banks's Stadium.
With Villa left back Jordan Amavi out with a long-term injury, Garde may look to add another left back to his ranks, and Henry would fit the bill as a young, English player with potential and Football League experience.
Yet with Tottenham also allegedly interested, Villa may have to move quickly, and hope that their proximity to Walsall helps them in their pursuit of the teenager.
Would Henry be a good signing for Villa?
