Andros Townsend will wear the number 25 shirt at Newcastle.
Newcastle United have confirmed new signing Andros Townsend will wear the number 25 shirt.
The number 25 was most recently worn by Gabriel Obertan, but has been vacant this season since the Frenchman switched to number 14, after Jack Colback took the number 4 shirt.
Prior to Obertain, the number 25 was worn by Kazenga Lua Lua, Abdoulaye Faye, Brian Kerr, and Paul Dalglish.
Townsend clinched a £12 million move from Tottenham Hotspur this week, a move he hopes will re-energise his England ambitions.
The winger has played only three league games this season, all as a substitute, and has had to make to with playing for the under-21s.
This is despite scoring for England in a friendly against Italy last March, showing his potential with an impressive long range striker.
His lack of game time was threatening his place at Euro 2016, but first and foremost he needs to perform he help Newcastle avoid relegation.
