Former Sunderland and Leeds United manager Peter Reid spoke highly of West Ham United attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet on the Goals on Sunday show on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday morning (January 24).
Reid highlighted two underrated features of Payet’s game - his body strength and his work ethic.
“I think he (Payet) puts in a shift as well,” said the former Manchester City boss. “I will tell you what he has got - he has got great body strength. Besides his quick feet, his technique, he has got a body strength about him.”
Payet, who joined West Ham from French club Marseille in the summer of 2015, has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.
The 28-year-old has scored six goals and created 55 chances in 16 Premier League appearances this campaign.
The France international has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and has won one header, 39 dribbles and 11 tackles.
The West Ham attacker works hard and helps out his teammates in defence, while also weaving magic with the ball in the opposition half.
Slaven Bilic’s side are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 36 points from 23 matches, just six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
