Paul Clement suggests Derby County are set to offload players

Derby County are set to offload players in the coming days.

Paul Clement has told the Derby Telegraph that Derby County are set to sell players before the end of the month.

The Rams have been active in January, bringing in Marcus Olsson, Abdoul Camara and Nick Blackman.

The arrival of the trio has left Clement’s squad bloated, and the Rams boss admits that the club are likely to allow some fringe players to leave in the coming days.

"I think we need to trim slightly because the squad has gone slightly bigger than what I would like," said the head coach in the Derby Telegraph.

"There are a number of players who are not getting the football they would like. Who they will be, we are not quite sure yet."

Derby have one of the bulkiest squads in the Championship, with competition for places fierce.

Just this week Robbie Savage told the Derby Telegraph that he feared Clement had added too much quality to his squad and left it unbalanced.

Derby have already cleared out Alex Pearce, who joined Bristol City on loan, but it seems more players could follow him out of the exit door.

One of the players whose future could be at risk is Darren Bent, as the veteran forward has slipped down the pecking order at the iPro Stadium this season.
