Former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick has told Sports Mole that he knew that Dele Alli was going to feature for Tottenham Hotspur this campaign back in pre-season.
Chadwick, who played with Alli at Milton Keynes Dons, has highlighted the 19-year-old’s brilliant piece of skill against Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly game as the defining moment.
"I was on holiday in the summer and Spurs were playing a pre-season game against Real Madrid,” the 35-year-old told Sports Mole. “I looked up at the screen briefly and I saw him nutmeg Luka Modric. Then, I knew he'd have a chance at the start of the season.
"He's got everything. His technique is superb, he's good on the ball and he has a good engine on him. He's the modern day midfielder.”
Alli has been a revelation this season and has been one of the best players in the Premier League. The 19-year-old midfielder is arguably the best teenage footballer in the English top flight at the moment.
The England international has scored six goals and created 27 chances in 21 Premier League appearances so far this campaign.
Alli has a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 59%, and has won 23 headers, 19 dribbles and 34 tackles.
The Tottenham youngster is a genuinely gifted footballer, and he is only going to get better in the coming years.
