Leicester would be making a statement of intent if they secure Ahmed Musa signing

The Nigeria skipper has been linked with a big-money move to Leicester City.

According to a recent report from the Times, Leicester City want to sign CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa during the January transfer window, and if the Foxes pull off that deal it will be a huge statement of intent both for the rest of this campaign and for the seasons to come.

For those unfamiliar with the Nigeria international he is one of the fastest, most exciting players in European football right now and if he plays anywhere near his potential he will be a huge hit at the King Power Stadium.

The Times claims CSKA want £19million for the player while Leicester have initially offered £14million, but it is being suggested that Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri hopes to bridge the gap to get a deal over the line.

At just 23 and with talent in abundance, Musa would represent considerable value for money.

Equally comfortable as a centre forward, a secondary striker or a winger (on either flank) Musa is lightning quick and he regularly sets up devastating counter-attacks for both club and country.

He also has experience of playing against Premier League opposition, terrifying Manchester United’s defenders over two matches in the Champions League earlier this season.

Whether brought off the bench to pressurise tired defences or starting in an array of positions Musa is the real deal, and if Leicester can secure his signature it will be a sign they plan to remain challenging at the top of the table for some time yet.
