Former England manager John Stones says Everton defender John Stones is the best defender the country have produced since World Cup winning centre-back Sir Bobby Moore.
Speaking via Twitter, he also urged the defender's detractors to stop criticising him, without singling out Everton fans, despite a section of the crowd booing him at the weekend.
He posted his message during last night's 3-1 Capital One Cup semi-final loss to Manchester City.
Wish people would get off John Stones back can't they see he's going to be the Best Defender England have had since Bobby Moore he's Class— Glenn Hoddle (@GlennHoddle) January 27, 2016
That is quite some praise from Hoddle, who believes the Everton man can be better than any defender he played alongside or against, or encountered during his managerial career.
Stones is just 21-years-old, and is still developing into the player many like Hoddle believe he can be.
That means he is still not the finished article, and as Hoddle says, fans should go easy on him. The expectations and hype surrounding him - which Hoddle is feeding into - may not necessarily help.
