Ex-West Ham forward Mauro Zarate comments on upcoming Europa League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur

The Argentine is ready to face Spurs for new club Fiorentina.

Mauro Zarate left West Ham United last week, making a move back to Italy with Fiorentina. The Argentine has previous in Serie A - after a stint with Lazio in Italian football.

One job he will be tasked to help out with regards Fiorentina's clash with his former London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League

Zarate featured for West Ham in the qualifying rounds for the competition but as The Hammers were knocked out before the main stage of the competition, therefore Zarate did not play beyond qualifying, he is not cup-tied for the Europa League for Fiorentina.

He was speaking at his official unveiling for Fiorentina this week and in quotes reported by Viola News he discussed the upcoming fixture with Spurs.

He stated:

"Tottenham? It will be a good game because they are very strong at home. They are a strong team physically and play good football with (Mauricio) Pochettino. We will make a good game, trying to take advantage of our opponent's mistakes."

Zarate and co will certainly be hoping for a repeat of last season, when the Italian side sent Tottenham crashing out of the Europa League.

However, as Zarate recognises, this is a different Tottenham beast and hopefully Pochettino's boys can get the better of the Italians when they face off in the Europa League this year.
