Brazil international striker Pato is set to join Chelsea from Corinthians on loan until the end of the season, according to The Daily Mail, while former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal striker Adebayor has signed for Crystal Palace on a free transfer.
“This guy (Adebayor), even when he was young, he needed motivating to turn up every Saturday or every time he stepped on the field,” Nicol told ESPN FC when asked who he would take: Pato or Adebayor.
“Pato has got the greatest motivation of all time, and that’s to get back to where he was. So no question. Adebayor is at the end of his career, and in his whole career he has needed motivating.”
Pato is 26 years of age, and he has given a great chance to get back to where he was. During his initial years at AC Milan, the Brazilian was superb and was widely recognised as one of the best young strikers in Europe.
Things did not work out as planned for the former Internacional striker, and Pato will want to make the most of his chance at Chelsea.
Adebayor has not played competitive football for quite a while now, and he is a bigger gamble for Palace than Pato is for Chelsea.
The 31-year-old former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker has Premier League experience, though, and Palace will hope that he hits the ground running and starts scoring rightaway.
