The defender recently completed a permanent move to the Owls from Crystal Palace.
Hunt spent the first half of the season on loan with the Owls, but clearly did enough to impress Carlos Carvalhal as his move from Crystal Palace was made permanent earlier in the month, with the defender signing a three-and-a-half year deal (via Star). And Bannan expressed his delight that Hunt is set to stay at Hillsborough for the long-term.
"I'm happy for Hunty that he is staying here. We are good mates and it is nice to see people like Hunty signing as you know you are going to have a real good go [for promotion]," Bannan told the Star.
"He is a top full-back and has been brilliant for the club this season. I would say he's the best in the league."
With Bannan and Ross Wallace - who have frequently featured on the wing for Carvalhal's side this season - both liking to have an impact in the middle of the pitch, having a full-back with as much willingness to get involved in attack as Hunt does is a huge asset to the Wednesday side.
As well as his defensive contribution, his ability to cause problems going forward has helped the Owls establish themselves in the promotion picture this season. They currently sit sixth in the Championship, and will be relying on their consistent performers, such as Hunt, to help them remain ahead of the congested mid-table pack over the coming months.
