Some may say the League Cup doesn't carry that much significance for a side but the reaction from Liverpool players suggests they are pretty happy to reach the first major final of the season.
After surrendering a first leg lead it was the lottery of the penalty shoot-out after extra time. Simon Mignolet pulled off two good saves in the shoot-out, and Joe Allen made no mistake with the decisive penalty.
It was a big night for several players. Some know they may not be featuring in the final but are looking forward to the experience of being part of the squad ahead of the final, with some likely to pick up medals for themselves.
As you can imagine, from several of the first team players there were the dressing room photographs that former defender Jamie Carragher just loves to hate - maybe he will make an exception given the occasion.
Defender Mamadou Sakho opted for the dressing room selfie:
Christian Benteke has put an emphasis on the team effort as he replaced Jordan Henderson in the second half:
A couple of fringe players. Brad Smith seems to have established himself as cover for Alberto Moreno but if he pushes hard enough he could get a chance in the final. After his cameo in the quarter-finals against Southampton, he's entitled to a medal:

Two players that may have been sidelined for much of the competition, but important to remember that both Danny Ings and Joe Gomez featured in the early rounds of the League Cup. Ings scored the Reds opener in the third round clash with Carlisle United:

I get the feeling this man could be at the heart of Liverpool's defence if he keeps himself fit. Dejan Lovren was finding some good for prior to the hamstring injury he sustained in the first leg against Stoke:
Then there's the man who deserved some credit after a difficult time of things in his Liverpool career. Some have questioned awarding him a new contract, but he may have gone some way to earning it - he was clearly delighted on the field, and summed it up nicely on Instagram:
