Report: Matt Miazga Premier League-bound, Arsenal or Liverpool possible destinations

New York Red Bulls

New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga is reportedly set for a move to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, United States international centre back Matt Miazga is poised to join a Premier League - with Arsenal and Liverpool interested.

Miazga, 20, joined the New York Red Bulls academy as a teenager way back in 2009, and has gradually made his way up through the ranks with the MLS side.

With 32 appearances last season, Miazga became a key man for Jesse Marsch's side, and he has unsurprisingly become one of America's next big hopes.

That may scare some after the demise of Freddy Adu, but Miazga has looked impressive in Major League Soccer, and has already earned his first cap for the United States national team - and a move to the Premier League could now be on the cards.

The Daily Mail report that Miazga is joining an unknown English club within the next 48 hours, with the deal expected to go through before next week's transfer deadline.

Whilst it's unclear who is targeting the centre back, it's stated that Arsenal and Liverpool have a keen interest in Miazga, along with Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Given that Miazga has Polish heritage, he doesn't need to apply for a work permit, and the report suggests that Miazga will cost just £3.5m - hence the interest from the top teams in England.

Arsenal may look to snap up Miazga and have him develop behind the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, whilst Liverpool are in desperate need of defenders, and Miazga could be a star of the future for Jurgen Klopp to develop over the coming years.
