QPR fans react on Twitter to Alex Smithies performance v Nottingham Forest

Loftus Road QPR

QPR secured a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening.

QPR travelled to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening, and came away with a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is still looking for his second win as Rs head coach, but he has stopped the slide the club were on, and the result keeps the West London club on a four-game unbeaten run.

It was an impressive result for QPR given Forest’s recent form, and goalkeeper Alex Smithies had to be at top form to ensure he kept a clean sheet.

Dougie Freedman’s men dominated the attacking play, managing more shots on target than QPR, but Smithies kept his second clean sheet in the last three games.

Hasselbaink has shored up the defence, and with Smithies in goal, QPR are becoming a very hard team to defeat right now - even in they are struggling to score goals at the other end of the field.

Having started the season behind Rob Green in the pecking order, 25-year-old Smithies has established himself as first-choice keeper in recent weeks, and his form deserves the starting role.

Following the game, QPR fans took to Twitter to react to their team’s performance, with many lavishing praise on the role Smithies played in the 0-0 draw.
