The Belgian suffered medial ligament damage.

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt an injury blow this week after learning that Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen will be out of action for a number of weeks after suffering knee ligament damage in a challenge with Crystal Palace's striker Connor Wickham at the weekend.

But whilst the news was obviously bad for Vertonghen he did not seem to be too upset in this photo.

Vertonghen has travelled with the Spurs first-team to their warm weather training in Barcelona this week, despite not being able to participate in the sessions.

Instead he got himself comfortable and sat with his feet up - resting his injured joint.

Of course Vertonghen's absence is going to be big for Spurs.

The central defender, who actually scored an own goal as well against Palace in a weekend to forget, has formed an excellent partnership with his Belgian compatriot Toby Alderweireld this season. That has been the basis for Tottenham's good form which sees them still in with a shout of winning the Premier League title this season.

Hopefully Vertonghen will play some more football this season as Spurs look to continue an impressive campaign.
