Andros Townsend faced Liverpool in an under-21 game for Tottenham on Monday night, and that was enough to throw a little confusion in at The Times over his future.
The England international is set to clinch a move to Newcastle United, with The BBC reporting Steve McClaren's side have agreed a fee worth around £12 million with Tottenham to sign the winger.
The Times' twitter account managed to get Newcastle mixed up with Liverpool, erroneously posting a link to their transfer column, stating he was set for Anfield instead.
After dozens of replies asking quite what was going on, the message was deleted.
Townsend was on the losing side for Tottenham's under-21 side this week, and hopes a move to Newcastle can turn around his fortunes, having been ostracised by Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
He is hoping along with former Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, that his switch to Newcastle will help the club avoid relegation, and on a personal note, allow him to do enough to earn a place in England's Euro 2016 squad.
