Kyle Walker sends message to Andros Townsend on Twitter after Newcastle move

The Tottenham right-back has wished the 24-year-old all the best.

Kyle Walker has wished former Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Andros Townsend all the best after the winger completed a move to Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.

Townsend had been in limbo at White Hart Lane for some time and Newcastle were the club most heavily linked with the wide man's signature for some time.

Despite talk of Daniel Levy's reluctance to drop his asking price - and the Magpies' unwillingness to pay more than they would have liked - a move eventually materialised and the 24-year-old's Spurs career is now over.

That doesn't mean he won't be remembered in north London, of course, and Walker is one man who paid tribute to the winger on social media after he completed his move to Tyneside.

Newcastle have needed a threat going forward for many months now, while Tottenham just had too much quality keeping Townsend out of the side.

The pressure is on the winger now to stop simply cutting inside and going for long shots - as he could prove key in Newcastle's battle against relegation.
