The West Bromwich Albion defender is proud of his club's top-flight status.
Tony Pulis’s side drew 0-0 with Villa at the weekend and while that was not the result supporters would have been hoping for (with some booing at the final whistle) it did show West Brom will fight for every point.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Olsson was keen to remind fans of just how well his side are doing and how they have now moved ahead of Villa in terms of the two clubs’ respective situations.
“I’m not saying we’re miles ahead of them (Villa) now, but we’re certainly the team in this area that’s doing well and have been for the last few years," he said.
“I understand expectations rise but they (the fans) have expectations because we’ve had six or seven years on the bounce in the Premier League. That’s a good achievement for a team like us.”
They are wise words from the defender, who will have seen a number of other top clubs slip into the Football League only to remain there year after year.
Olsson has featured 18 times for West Brom so far this season, and now he is back in favour at the club it seems he could yet remain beyond the summer when his current contract expires.
