Gerard Deulofeu says Romelu Lukaku needs to score more often for Everton

Everton

Reomlu Lukaku has scored 19 times in 26 appearances for Everton this season.

Gerard Deulofeu has told the Liverpool Echo that Romelu Lukaku needs to score more goals for Everton.

Lukaku has netted on 19 occasions in 26 appearances this season, and he leads the Merseyside club’s scoring charts.

However, Deulofeu believes that the Belgian international would have an even greater tally if he attacked the front post more often.

“Romelu needs more goals and he needs to go to the first post more,” the winger said. “I always say ‘Rom go to the first post my friend because my crosses are dangerous.’ I want Rom to score more goals and me to have more assists.”

Deulofeu has been Everton’s main architect this campaign, and he has 12 assists to his name in all competitions.

The Spaniard has put in some wonderful deliveries from wide areas throughout the campaign, and his partnership with Lukaku has helped Everton maintain some credibility.

The Toffees have attacked with great class, but they still have disappointed - and currently sit in 12th place in the Premier League table.

Everton do have a chance to make up for their disappointing league season tonight, however, when they take on Manchester City in the Capital One Cup semi final.
