Bristol City move for Bournemouth's Tomlin

Bristol City

HITC Sport understands Bristol City are set to win race for Premier League forward.

Bristol City are closing in on the signing of Bournemouth forward Lee Tomlin on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Tomlin after the player found his first-team chances limited at Bournemouth.

Tomlin joined Bournemouth from Championship side Middlesbrough in the summer of 2015, but he has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Eddie Howe's side.

The 27-year-old has made only six appearances in the Premier League this season and Tomlin has admitted he would be interested in a move away in search of regular action.

Bournemouth are willing to loan out Tomlin as the arrivals of Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban have pushed him further down te pecking order at Dean Gate.

The likes of Leeds United and Hull City have been credited with an interest in Tomlin, but it looks like struggling Bristol City are set to land the former Peterborough man.

Bristol City have identified versatile forward Tomlin as someone who will add creativity to their side as they look to climb clear of trouble at the wrong end of the Championship table.
