Prolific striker Alex Teixeira has admitted he is excited at the prospect of signing for Liverpool.
In an interview with Anfield HQ, filmed in the USA where he is on a training camp with Shakhtar Donetsk, Teixeira revealed he is particularly close to countryman Coutinho, and would like to get the chance to link up with him again.
The two clubs are currently negotiating over price, with The BBC reporting Shakhtar value him at £38 million, a fee Liverpool are yet to meet.
He added that he feels he can make an impact at the Reds if he gets the chance to join.
He said: "I've played with Coutinho since we were 10-years-old. It would be a lot of fun to play with him again.
"I am always looking to score. I could definitely add an attacking threat, especially if I'm paired with all of the talented players they already have in the squad."
Teixeira has scored 22 goals in 16 games this season, attracting Liverpool's interest.
The Reds have made two transfers so far this January, signing Steven Caulker on loan from QPR, and adding midfielder Marko Grujic from Dinamo Zagreb, before sending the Croatian back on loan for the rest of the season.
