Leeds boss Steve Evans gives insight into latest Alex Mowatt absence

The Leeds United midfielder will not feature against Brentford.

Leeds United manager Steve Evans has been speaking ahead of his side’s Championship match against Brentford this week in an interview for LUTV.

The video was later posted on their official Twitter account and among other things Evans went into more detail regarding Alex Mowatt’s recent absence from the squad.

The 20-year-old was one of the Whites’ star performers last season but a year on he has failed to replicate his best form.

Mowatt was left on the bench against Preston North End back in December before missing the next three matches due to injury.

He later returned, playing 60 minutes against Ipswich Town and 20 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday, but he is now side-lined again and will not be ready for Tuesday’s clash.

Speaking to LUTV, Evans said, “Alex Mowatt is still missing. He’s probably going to take a week from now.

“We had him scanned yesterday; nothing more than deep bruising in the thigh, it’s healing now quickly but the medical opinion is give him a week and he should be fine.”

Despite Mowatt’s dip in form he has still played 23 times for Leeds this season and if he performs to his full potential he has a vital role to play between now and May.
