It is claimed that the Canadian international is currently in talks with the club, with a loan move mooted for the start of the MLS season in March.
Aird, who was born in Toronto, is highly rated by Rangers boss Mark Warburton, but he has hardly featured this season.
The 20-year-old full-back - who can also play in midfield - has managed just four appearances in all competitions.
He has not started a single league game, and he needs to be playing on a more consistent basis to ensure his development does not falter.
Aird made his debut for Canada back in October, and all parties involved are keen for the deal to take him to Vancouver goes through.
It will ensure him consistent first-team football, something that Rangers, Warburton and Aird all want, whilst aiding the Whitecaps in their search for a new right-back.
There are currently no details as to when the loan will be completed.
