Newcastle's Tim Krul says he is on schedule to return better and stronger after his injury

St James Park Four

The Newcastle United stopper is out of the side due to a serious setback.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has taken to Twitter to give an injury update…and it is good news for Magpies fans.

The Netherlands international has been side-lined with a ruptured cruciate ligament since mid-October but he is recovering well and will be hoping to challenge current Newcastle number one Rob Elliot in due course.

Writing on Twitter on Tuesday, Krul said, “On schedule to be harder, better, faster, stronger. My recovery is going well.”

The 27-year-old was the undisputed first-choice at St James’ Park prior to his injury but Elliot has impressed in his absence and it will not be easy for Krul to get back into Steve McClaren’s side when he is finally ready to return.

That is still some way off, but he will no doubt be watching from the side-lines as Newcastle attempt to climb out of the relegation zone and secure their top flight status for another season over the coming months.

Newcastle’s next match is away to Everton early next month followed by a home clash with West Bromwich Albion.
