The midfielder confirmed he has left the club on Twitter earlier today.
Leeds United's academy has certainly developed some great talent in recent years. Sam Byram has recently headed to West Ham from the club and Alex Mowatt, Lewis Cook, Charlie Taylor and Kalvin Phillips are all current talents in the first-team picture.
At one point however it was midfielder Chris Dawson who was considered the pick of the bunch.
The talented Welsh under-21 international made his original breakthrough to the first team in 2013 but he as struggled with a shoulder injury and other ailments since then.
He has played just three times since his debut in 2013 and featured for the under-21s just yesterday but he confirmed today via Twitter that he was leaving the club:
Dawson's departure will not please many but for one reason or another he has simply not made the grade at Leeds United.
His battles with injury and his slight frame have probably not helped matters and seeing as he has not played a competitive fixture since April last year it seems the time was right for him to move on.
Plenty of Leeds United fans have been having their say on the matter, after Dawson announced the news:
#lufc very disappointed to Chris Dawson leave Never was given the chance to perform in the first team We cud easily regret letting him go— Hagar the Horrible (@Hagar62lufc) January 26, 2016
Dawson just never seemed to kick on after his debut. Has been over looked by many since so must be something with him....shame #lufc— Sean (@ROI_LUFC) January 26, 2016
Not sure what's happened with Dawson at #lufc. He was considered the brightest Academy talent not long ago. Wish him luck for the future.— James Varley (@jvarleyqatar) January 26, 2016

Sad to see Dawson leave, feel a bit short changed (not by him) that we never got to see the potential. Hope he turns out a top player #lufc— Ben (@BenLUFC86) January 26, 2016

Dawson has left then, not surprised at that but it's a shame it didn't work out, I think he will have a club lined up leaving early #lufc— Ryan Pinnick (@RyanPinnicklufc) January 26, 2016
Shame about Dawson, injuries have not been kind to him and probably halted his progress with #lufc Hope he gets something sorted elsewhere— LUFCInc (@LUFCInc) January 26, 2016
It is not just fans either. Leeds United players have been wishing 'Daws' well in his next venture, including current first-teamer Alex Mowatt:
