The England under-21 international
Sunderland have had a difficult transfer window so far, with several targets falling through and an ambitious move for Andre Ayew looking unlikely.
The arrivals of Dame N'Doye and Jan Kirchoff have boosted the ranks but there has been very little else to be excited about.
But one deal completed today is certainly an excellent piece of business. The club have confirmed that goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has signed a contract extension at the Stadium of Light to keep him with the club until 2020.
The England under-21 international is rightly highly rated in the Sunderland camp. He has recently made his Sunderland debut after being called back from his incredible loan stint at Championship side Preston North End.
Pickford's form has even seen Sunderland move on Romanian stopper Costel Pantilimon to Watford.
The youngster is an excellent shot stopper and immensely confident goalkeeper who is strong and commanding in the air despite his young age.
Add to that his fantastic distribution on a wand of a left-foot and Sunderland surely have themselves a potential former England international in their ranks.
Here is how the Sunderland fans reacted to the new deal for their talented young goalkeeper...
