Marcus Olsson has linked up with Derby County on a three-and-a-half year deal, signing from Blackburn for an undisclosed fee.
With Craig Forsyth out injured until the end of the season, Paul Clement has been searching for left-back cover this month, and Olsson arrives at Derby in the last week of the transfer window.
The 27-year-old, a twice capped Swedish international, has played for Blackburn since 2012. He has played 114 times for the club, and has 92 games of Championship experience to his name, and arrives at the iPro Stadium to shore up the Rams’ defence in the second half of the season.
The Rams need to stop they recent slide, having lost form and dropped from first to fifth in the space of five games.
They have no win since December, and Olsson will bring further Football League know-how to arguably the strongest squad in the entire second division.
Following the confirmation of Olsson’s signing, Derby fans took to Twitter to react to the left-back’s arrival, with many pleased with the transfer.
Marcus Olsson is a great signing, don't get me wrong Warnock hasn't put a foot wrong but the cover was needed #dcfc— Tom A (@Tommo891) January 26, 2016
#dcfc think Olsson is a decent addition, will hopefully inspire rest of the team! Think a few should go out now too!— Matt Delaney (@MattieD3) January 26, 2016
The signing of Olsson is a welcome addition. Though he may have to wait for his chance as Warnock has been playing well. #dcfc— Alex (@ACTaylor96) January 26, 2016
@justinslany I trust that our owner, a lifelong fan of our club, knows what he's doing. Olsson's proven at this level. What we need— Nathan Wilkinson (@Wilkinson_DCFC) January 26, 2016
I welcome the signing of Olsson. To only have one fit LB has been fool hardy to say the least. Now time for 3/4 to leave/be loaned out— stace (@stace_dcfc) January 26, 2016
Olsson deal done then some much needed cover for Warnock who has been immense since Fozzy's injury #dcfc— Dan Wilkinson (@dan_WilkinsonF1) January 26, 2016
